Palgongsan Cable Car

📍 Daegu

Palgongsan Cable Car climbs a steep, long course, letting riders enjoy the scenery and a bit of thrill along the way.

Twenty-four six-person cabins run on an automatic 40-second-interval loop, with the summit station perched atop Sillimbong peak. This spot, together with the Jecheondan altar at the summit of Birobong and the Gatbawi Buddha to the east, is considered one of the region's major sites of folk faith seeking blessings and fortune.

An interesting detail: the cable car's summit station lies in a direct line with Jecheondan and Daegu World Cup Stadium, and in the topography of Palgongsan — said to resemble a phoenix spreading its wings in flight — it sits at the very center of the "body," believed in feng shui terms to carry particularly good energy.

Beyond the cable car itself, the summit station has a restaurant and cafe, so you can grab a meal there too — a comfortable way for anyone not up for hiking to still enjoy Palgongsan's views. It pairs well with Donghwasa and Gatbawi as part of a full-day Palgongsan itinerary.

ℹ️ Travel infoHours and fares may vary by season — check before visiting. Restaurant and cafe available at the summit station.
📸 Best photo spotShooting from below as the cable car climbs or descends captures the steep incline well. From the summit station, don't miss the sweeping view over the whole Palgongsan ridge.
