Dalseong Park

Dalseong Park

📍 Daegu

Dalseong Park is Daegu's oldest downtown park, carrying the full weight of its history within it.

Dalseong was originally the earthen fortress of Dalgubeol, an ancient tribal state that once stood on this site — known as one of the earliest fortifications in the history of Korean fortress building. The park takes its name directly from that fortress.

Located right in the city center, it's easy to reach, and with its historic site preserved inside, it also serves as a living history classroom for children and teens. Walking its wooded paths, lined with rare old trees and ornamental plantings, you'll come across a small zoo where deer, ostriches, seals, and tigers live — a particular hit with families.

With benches and rest spots scattered throughout, it's a place to enjoy history, nature, and a bit of downtown breathing room all at once.

📸 Best photo spotA walking-path angle showing both the old earthen fortress mound and the tall old trees works well. Shoot the small zoo area from a child's eye level for a livelier photo.
