Bongsan Culture Street

Bongsan Culture Street

📍 Daegu

Bongsan Culture Street is a 600-meter cultural and artistic street stretching from the "Media Sky" sculpture in front of Exit 9 of Banwoldang Station (Daegu Metro Line 2) to Bongsan Five-Way Junction.

With galleries, antique shops, old bookstores, and art-supply stores densely packed along it, it's often compared to Seoul's Insadong as "Daegu's Insadong." When it first developed as an art-focused cultural street in the mid-1980s, the emphasis was on selling artwork, art supplies, and frame-mounting services; today it has grown into a street where a wide variety of works are both exhibited and sold.

As more galleries opened, the street became a place where you can regularly encounter works by Daegu's leading local artists. Even without setting out to see a specific exhibition, there's real enjoyment in stumbling across a good piece of art while simply walking.

It's directly connected to Banwoldang Station, making it easy to reach, and other downtown spots like Dongseongno Street and Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park are nearby, making it easy to combine into one visit.
