Kofuku-ji Temple
📍 NaraFounded in 710 as the clan temple of the Fujiwara family, its 50.1-meter five-story pagoda is the second-tallest wooden pagoda in Japan. Rising over the spacious grounds where Nara Park's deer freely wander, this pagoda's silhouette is the single most photographed image representing Nara. The National Treasure Hall holds the six-armed Ashura statue, whose boyish expression draws pilgrims from across the country to see it.
