Sarusawa Pond

A small pond sitting right below Kofuku-ji's five-story pagoda, where the pagoda's reflection on the water surface makes it one of Nara's most photographed spots. Local lore names "Seven Wonders of Sarusawa Pond" — quirky traits like never releasing fish into it, having no bridge, and lotus never growing there. Cherry trees line the pond's edge, so spring brings a scene where blossoms and the pagoda blend together beautifully.
