Mt. Minyeobong

Minyeobong, also called Minyeosan ("Beautiful Woman Mountain"), takes its name from its resemblance to a woman lying down with her hair flowing long. The ridgeline formed by its peaks is said to clearly trace the shape of long flowing hair, a defined facial profile, and the curve of a chest and belly.

Two legends are attached to Minyeobong. In one, this area was once sea, and when a general's boat drifted here, the Jade Emperor sent his daughter down to save him. But when the general and the daughter fell in love, the enraged Jade Emperor is said to have transformed them both into mountains, forever lying side by side.

The fact that the mountain's very silhouette carries a story within it is what makes Minyeobong more than just a hiking route.
