This retro observation tower stands at the heart of Shinsekai, one of Osaka's old working-class neighborhoods. The name means 'tower reaching the heavens,' and it's famous for the lucky statue Billiken at its base, said to grant wishes if you rub the soles of his feet. The surrounding Shinsekai streets are packed with old-school kushikatsu (fried skewer) joints, great for cheap, no-frills Osaka eating.
