Shitenno-ji Temple
📍 OsakaFounded in 593 by Prince Shotoku, this is considered the oldest state-built temple in Japan. Its layout — inner gate, five-story pagoda, main hall, and lecture hall arranged in a straight north-south line — is known as the 'Shitenno-ji style.' The current buildings are reconstructions after repeated fires and wartime destruction, but the layout itself still follows the original founding-era plan.
