Also called 'Hassha Daimyojin' (Great Deity of the Eight Shrines) for enshrining eight deities including Shinatsuhiko-no-Mikoto and Shinatsuhime-no-Mikoto. Behind the main hall, spring water called 'Hassei-sui' (water of eight spirits) wells up, said to have been used by Taima swordsmiths to forge blades. Among the shrine's treasures is a small model helmet said to have belonged to Empress Jingu. The summer festival features a portable shrine and danjiri floats parading through town — one danjiri from each of five neighborhood associations pulled vigorously by young men to lively music — while the shrine hosts ceremonial performances like Sanbaso dance and the Hassha drums.
