Osakashiritsubijutsukan Museum of Art

Osakashiritsubijutsukan Museum of Art

📍 Osaka

Opened in 1936 in a corner of Tennoji Park, this museum was once the Sumitomo family's garden estate before being donated to Osaka City for the purpose of building an art museum. It holds over 8,500 pieces of Japanese and Chinese painting, sculpture, and craftwork, many designated Important Cultural Properties. The adjoining Tennoji Gallery regularly hosts open-call exhibitions, and the main building houses an art research institute for drawing and painting practice.

📸 Best photo spotPlease avoid flash photography indoors to protect the exhibits — outdoor exhibit areas, if any, are easier to shoot.
