Migukurumitamajinja Shrine

The name 'Migukurumitama' comes from enshrining the deity who governs water, distributing it from the mountains to the land. Founded during Emperor Sujin's reign, its enshrined deity is Okuninushi-no-Mikoto. The hill behind the main hall holds a cluster of four ancient burial mounds, regarded as the shrine's sacred mountain. Stairs and a pilgrimage path lead to the main hall halfway up the slope, with both a lower and upper worship hall for visitors to pray at. The Kusunoki clan revered this shrine as their clan deity alongside Takemikumari Shrine (in Chihayaakasaka Village), calling the pair the 'lower' and 'upper' Mikumari shrines, and contributed land and funded shrine construction.
