Kayashimajinja Shrine

A great tree standing right inside Keihan Main Line's Kayashima Station. This is actually the giant camphor tree of Kayashima Shrine, located beneath the station's elevated tracks — the tree pierces straight through the platform, standing serenely tall. When elevated track construction meant the station would be built directly over the shrine, locals passionately petitioned to preserve the great camphor by incorporating it into the platform itself, and the main hall, worship hall, and shrine office were rebuilt through donations from many local parishioners. It's also been named one of Osaka Prefecture's 100 Green Landscapes.
