Kanayamakofun

Kanayamakofun

📍 Osaka

Kanayama Kofun is a rare 'gourd-shaped' twin-circular mound. It's the largest gourd-shaped kofun discovered in Japan as of 2000, believed to have been built between the 6th and 7th centuries based on its stone coffin style and burial goods. The northern mound contains a horizontal-entry stone chamber holding two house-shaped stone coffins. The area around the kofun has been developed into a historic site park, cherished as a community relaxation spot.

📸 Best photo spotStep back a bit so the whole mound fits in frame — that best conveys its scale.
