Old Stone Walls of Geochang Hwangsan Village

Geochang Hwangsan Village grew into a clan village of the Geochang Sin family after Sin Su-i settled here in the mid-18th century. The village's origins date back to the early 16th century, and it's said to have produced a steady line of notable figures from King Yeongjo's reign of the Joseon dynasty onward.

At the village entrance stands an old tree designated a county-protected tree — over 5m wide, more than 15m tall, and some 600 years old. Villagers call it the "Anjeongjwa Tree," and it's regarded as a living witness to the village's history.

The village sits on generally flat terrain, with the Hoeum Stream flowing to its east, and old stone walls run along its alleys throughout.

Walking between these weathered stone walls, you can naturally sense the texture of a life that a clan village has preserved across generations.
