Mt. Yanggaksan

Mt. Yanggaksan

📍 Geochang

Mt. Yanggaksan sits on the border of Ungyang-myeon and Gabuk-myeon in Geochang County, Gyeongsangnam-do, and was formerly known as Mt. Geumgwang.

Mt. Sudosan lies to its north; centered on the summit, Simbangso in Jungchon-ri, Gabuk-myeon lies to the east, while Geumgwang Village, sitting above Ungyang Dam, lies to the west.

"Yanggak" means "two horns," and the name comes from the two granite peaks rising high on the mountain, each with cliffs facing east and west, forming a shape like a pair of ox horns standing as if male and female facing each other. The north peak is the summit.

Standing on Yanggaksan's left peak, the Baekdudaegan mountain range and surrounding peaks come into full view, letting you fully feel the grandeur unique to these granite summits.
