Shikinagayoshijinja Shrine

Shikinagayoshijinja Shrine

📍 Osaka

Listed in the Engishiki register and mentioned even in Japan's oldest texts, the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, this shrine is said to have been founded around 794, some 1,200 years ago, in the early Heian period. Its enshrined deities are Nagaesotsuhiko-no-Mikoto and Kotoshironushi-no-Mikoto. Its autumn festival, held the second Saturday and Sunday of October, features lively futon-daiko (cushion-shaped drum floats), danjiri parades, and kagura sacred dance performances.

📸 Best photo spotShoot straight through the torii gate to capture the shrine's signature red color and sense of depth.
