Domyojitenmangu

Domyojitenmangu

📍 Osaka

Founded as the clan deity shrine of the Haji clan, who built the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Mozu-Furuichi Kofun burial mounds — a history spanning over 1,400 years. When the Haji clan changed its surname to Sugawara, the shrine became the Sugawara clan's guardian shrine, founding a Tenmangu shrine to enshrine Sugawara no Michizane. Its plum grove — about 800 trees across roughly 80 varieties of the plum blossoms Michizane loved — is a magnificent sight.

📸 Best photo spotShoot straight through the torii gate to capture the shrine's signature red color and sense of depth.
