Sakai's own Central Park, spanning about 35 hectares. Centered on the 'Peace Tower' rising in front of the ginkgo tree-lined north entrance and the gourd-shaped 'Dora Pond' created by renovating an Edo-period reservoir, its lawn plaza and children's forest draw crowds of kids on holidays. The grounds also hold the 'Sakai City Museum,' which introduces the city's history and culture, a 26,000㎡ 'Japanese Garden,' and 'Sakai City Tea House Shin-an,' where visitors can casually enjoy a bowl of matcha. About 400 Somei-yoshino and Oshima cherry trees bloom in full in April.
