Built on the grounds of the 1970 Osaka World Expo, this park offers play facilities for young children — an athletic tower, giant maze, cycle boats — plus casual, hands-free full-fledged barbecue facilities. Expo heritage remains too: the 'EXPO'70 Pavilion,' a memorial hall of the fair, displays period materials and exhibits, letting visitors feel that era's atmosphere and excitement. The 'Tower of the Sun,' designed by artist Taro Okamoto as part of the Expo's Theme Pavilion, was among the few structures preserved alongside the EXPO'70 Pavilion when most buildings were demolished after the fair closed — and it remains a beloved symbol of Osaka to this day.
