Yongyeon

📍 Jeju

Yongyeon is a lake located in Yongdam-dong, Jeju City, distinguished by valley water flowing into it. Water starting from the mountain ridge flows down to the coast, meeting seawater and creating a mysterious atmosphere.

Legend holds that because the lake never dries up even during drought, a dragon once living here ascended to the heavens to bring rain — hence the name Yongyeon, "Dragon Pool." It's also said to have been a favorite gathering spot for scholars of old who came here to enjoy poetry and music.

Yongyeon Suspension Bridge, a wooden bridge connecting the two sides of the pool, offers a single sweeping view where a reddish pavilion and an emerald-colored gorge come together — a scene that looks almost like a painting.

The bridge is especially famous for its beautiful night view, making it a wonderful spot for an evening walk. Being close to downtown Jeju, it's an easy stop to enjoy this mysterious scenery for a little while.
