Tenneiji Temple

Tenneiji, founded by Guchu Shukyu, is the foremost old temple of Tanba, carrying a long history and a certain dignity within its stillness. The main hall was rebuilt in 1963, but the founder's hall and the Yakushi hall, raised between the mid and late Edo period, still stand quietly in the grounds as they were. Among its treasures, sixteen colour-on-silk paintings of the sixteen rakan in the Li Longmian manner, and a colour-on-silk portrait of the priest Sokkyu Keiryo, are designated Important Cultural Properties.
