Taji Shrine stands in the centre of Hiyoshi in Nantan and is said to have been founded in the Keiun era. The present main hall, built in 1755, is a two-bay nagare-zukuri structure and among the largest of its kind in the Tanba region. Two folk performing arts have been handed down here — the Onda rite, designated a national intangible folk cultural property, and the Kakkosuri, designated by the prefecture — and the festival that carries them is held on a grand scale each year.
