Ryotokuji Temple
📍 KyotoRyotokuji is best known for the radish-boiling on 9 and 10 December. It goes back to the winter of 1252, when the priest Shinran stopped here on his way to Tsukinowa-dera and the villagers boiled radishes to feed him. In return he wrote out the Buddha's name for them using a stalk of pampas grass, and that inscription still hangs in the main hall.
