Ryogonji Temple

Ryogonji is known affectionately as the Crow Temple, after the sliding-door paintings of crows through the four seasons. It is an old foundation, said to have been established in 732 by the priest Rinsho. Three ancient trees in the grounds — a linden, a crape myrtle and a camellia — are well known locally. As the second site on the Kansai Flower Temple pilgrimage of twenty-five, it offers azaleas from mid-April into early May and lotus in its pond from early July to mid-August.
