Oeyamaonitakeinarijinja Shrine

📍 Kyoto

This shrine sits within the forest of Mount Oe, part of the Tango-Amanohashidate-Oeyama Quasi-National Park and one of Japan's hundred designated forest-bathing woods, surrounded by old-growth beech and oak. You can drive right up to it, which makes it popular with sightseers and hikers alike. On the last Sunday in May the mass climb of Mount Oe passes through here while the new green is at its best. In autumn, the sea of cloud seen from this point is reckoned the finest in the Kinki region.

📸 Best photo spotShoot straight through the torii gate to capture the shrine's signature red color and sense of depth.
