Mitojinja Shrine

At the foot of Mount Konosu, this shrine sits at the end of a fine approach lined with old pines, with the main hall, worship hall and shrine office beyond. The south-facing main hall was built in 1448: cypress bark roof, a chidori gable set across the front to break up the line, and designated an Important Cultural Property. A votive tablet offered in November 1830 depicts the okage dance, with the villagers taking part rendered with real liveliness. According to the Sandai Jitsuroku, compiled in 859, the shrine was granted junior fifth rank, lower grade.
