Jindoji Temple
📍 KyotoJindoji is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku, when it was called Daikanzeonkyoji. The name was later changed to Jindoji, and the temple flourished as a training ground for mountain asceticism. A number of Fujiwara-period images survive here: a seated Amida Nyorai, a seated Aizen Myoo, and standing figures of Fudo Myoo, Bishamonten, Nikko Bosatsu and Gakko Bosatsu — six in all, designated Important Cultural Properties together with the main hall, rebuilt in the Muromachi period.
