Horinokinenkan Memorial Museum

📍 Kyoto

The Horino Memorial Museum is the former main house of the Horino family, founders of the Kinshi Masamune brewery, on the spot where Matsuya Kyubei began the business in 1781. The building survived the great fire of 1864 that swept central Kyoto, which makes it a rare survivor in itself, and the noted Momo-no-i well still yields water at around three tonnes an hour. Historical documents and family collections are on display along with brewing tools, and you can taste the well water, the sake and the local beer.

📸 Best photo spotPlease avoid flash photography indoors to protect the exhibits — outdoor exhibit areas, if any, are easier to shoot.
