Jeolbuam is a rock at Yongsu-ri harbor, Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju City, surrounded by a grove of subtropical plants including spindle trees, machilus, and camellias.
Designated a Jeju Island Monument on August 26, 1981, this rock honors the devotion of a woman known as Mrs. Go. In late Joseon, Kang Sa-cheol, a fisherman from this village, was killed by a fierce storm during a fishing trip. His wife, Mrs. Go, is said to have searched for him for several days before ultimately taking her own life at this very rock.
Thanks to this story of deep devotion to a husband, Jeolbuam is still quietly remembered today as a place honoring marital fidelity.
