Tomb of King Hyoso

Tomb of King Hyoso is the tomb of King Hyoso (r. 692-702), Silla's 32nd monarch.

King Hyoso, the eldest son of King Sinmun, took the throne at just six years old, with his mother, Queen Sinmok, serving as regent for eight years. During his reign, he reorganized the government structure and founded Uihak, a medical training institution. He built many fortresses in an effort to reclaim former Goguryeo territory, and opened markets in the capital to make the circulation of goods easier. Following his death, he is said to have been buried east of Mangdeoksa Temple.
