Cheonjeyeon Falls

Cheonjeyeon Falls formed as the Jungmun Stream, originating on Mt. Halla, flows toward the sea, and it sits within the Jungmun Tourist Complex.

The falls are divided into three tiers. The first waterfall drops from a columnar-jointed rock face into Cheonjeyeon Pond, while its waters continue flowing downward to form the second and third falls.

The first waterfall is 22m high, with the pool reaching a depth of 21m; during the dry season, water may not flow over the falls at all. Still, the combination of columnar-jointed rock walls and an emerald-colored pool is beautiful enough that visitors, foreign and domestic alike, can't help reaching for their cameras. Near the first waterfall, an icy-cold stream sometimes pours from the ceiling of a rock cave.

It pairs well with other attractions inside the Jungmun Tourist Complex, and since the waterfall's appearance changes with the season and rainfall, checking ahead before visiting makes for a more satisfying experience.
