Yongduam Rock

Yongduam stands on the northern coast near Jeju International Airport, one of Jeju's most iconic rocks.

Shaped over centuries by waves and wind into a form resembling a dragon's head, it takes its name — "Dragon Head Rock" — from that resemblance. Legend has it that a dragon, having stolen a jade orb from the guardian spirit of Mt. Halla, fled toward the sea; the enraged spirit shot it down with an arrow, and the dragon's body sank into the water while its head, still turned toward the sky, froze in place forever.

Close to downtown Jeju City and not far from the airport, it has long been a favorite first or last stop on a Jeju trip — one of the island's signature coastal landmarks.
