The Seated Stone Buddha of Yeongji stands in Gwaeneung-ri, Oedong-eup, Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
The statue features a halo carved into the pedestal and the back of the body, though part of the halo and the head are badly worn, making the details hard to make out. Even so, the sturdy body, waist, and full-volumed knees clearly show the style of Unified Silla. The hand gestures are also worth noting: the right hand points its fingertips toward the ground, while the left rests on the left knee with the palm facing outward. Beyond the weathering of centuries, this is a place to appreciate the powerful sculptural style of Unified Silla Buddhist statuary.
