Yasaka Ashiginu Onsen is a day-use hot spring with ten different baths, including open-air pools, a jacuzzi and a sauna. Numbers are capped by the count of changing-room locker keys, so it stays uncrowded enough to soak at leisure. The two bathhouses, called the Kingdom Bath and the Himiko Bath, swap between men's and women's each day — come twice and you'll see both. There's a dining room, parking and a rest area. The water is a sodium-calcium sulphate spring, hypotonic, alkaline and hot, held to help with neuralgia, muscle and joint pain, frozen shoulder, chronic digestive complaints, poor circulation, fatigue, chronic skin conditions and burns.
