Yamaguchijoato Castle

📍 Kyoto

When the Honnoji Incident broke out and Oda Nobunaga fell to Akechi Mitsuhide, Tokugawa Ieyasu — then at Sakai — fled for his home province of Mikawa. On the way he rested at the Yamaguchi family's castle here at Gonokuchi before continuing through Okuyamada and escaping via Shigaraki and Iga. The site is now largely tea fields, but traces of the moat and stone walls remain.

📸 Best photo spotShoot from an angle where the stone walls are clearly visible to capture the castle's old grandeur.
