Umenomiyataisha Grand Shrine

Through the tower gate, the main hall stands directly ahead, enshrining eight deities including the god of sake brewing and gods of conception and safe childbirth. To its right lies the Matage Stone, which is said to grant a child to those who step over it — though you need to have a prayer offered first. Something is in flower here through most of the year: plum in February and March, double cherries and kirishima azalea in April, hirado azalea and rabbitear iris in May, Japanese iris and hydrangea in June. People pray here for brewing, for children and safe birth, and for study, music and the performing arts.
