The grounds here are covered by dense trees, so that even at the height of summer the air stays cool under deep shade. The main hall is a kasuga-zukuri structure rebuilt in 1687. Within the grounds stands Tachibana Shrine, enshrining Tachibana Masashige, a descendant of Tachibana no Moroe. The adjoining temple of Jizo Zen-in holds a weeping cherry that is a natural monument of Kyoto Prefecture and one of its ten designated notable trees.
