Rengeji was moved out here from the centre of Kyoto in the early Edo period by Imaeda Chikayoshi, chief retainer of the Maeda of Kaga. In the grounds are the hexagonal-capped stone lantern of the Rengeji type and a pond garden made for viewing by Ishikawa Jozan, and the whole place holds a damp, quiet atmosphere.
