Nunobiki Falls drops some 100 metres in front of Urashima Shrine. Water thrown out from the summit scatters as it falls, so that it looks like a length of white cloth unrolled — hence the name. It only appears when there is water enough, after rain or during the snowmelt, which makes it something of a phantom. The trail has since been improved, so you can now get close to it.
