Nashinokijinja Shrine

Nashinoki Shrine occupies a long, narrow strip of ground along the eastern edge of the Kyoto Imperial Park. It was founded in 1885 to enshrine Sanjo Sanetsumu, a figure of the Meiji Restoration, and his son Sanetomi was later enshrined alongside him. It is known for bush clover: from the middle to the end of September, pale pink and white blossoms sway in the autumn wind along the grounds and the approach. The annual hagi festival is held around the third or fourth Sunday of September.
