Motoinarikofun

📍 Kyoto

Moto-Inari Kofun, inside Katsuyama Park north of Muko Shrine, is a square-front, square-back mound of the early Kofun period. It runs about 92 metres in length, and swords and axes were among the finds; special stand-shaped haniwa were recovered from the top of the mound. The Kitayama site nearby is thought to be a Yayoi-period hilltop settlement. It forms part of the Otokuni Kofun Group historic site.

📸 Best photo spotStep back a bit so the whole mound fits in frame — that best conveys its scale.
