The Maizuru Repatriation Memorial Museum displays material recording the experience of those interned in Siberia by the Soviet Union after the end of the Second World War in 1945: paintings, letters sent home to families, and the diaries kept during internment. In 2015, 570 items from the collection were inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World register as Return to Maizuru.
