Kyotoshigakkorekishihakubutsukan Museum

The Kyoto Museum of School History centres on the bangumi elementary schools — 64 of them, Japan's first schools organised by catchment district — founded in 1869 by the townspeople of Kyoto themselves, neighbourhood by neighbourhood. It traces the founding of schools in the city and the history of its education, and displays the art, craft, teaching aids and materials that the schools and kindergartens have kept over the years.
