Kyotogionranpubijutsukan Museum of Art

The Kyoto Gion Lamp Museum displays some 800 oil lamps, Japanese and foreign, from the Meiji era, when they were an indispensable part of daily life. Almost all of them were in actual use, which gives a clear sense of what light in that period was really like.
