Kuahausuiwataki

📍 Kyoto

Kurhaus Iwataki draws on the Amanohashidate Iwataki hot spring, at 58.5°C the hottest source in Kyoto Prefecture. It is a health-promotion facility built around the spring, run by the town, with no overnight accommodation. Bathing is split between swimsuit areas and traditional unclothed baths: a bathing zone with thirteen pools and a sauna to be used in swimwear, a 25-metre four-lane hot spring pool with a water slide, unclothed baths, a training room, a relaxation room and a restaurant. The water is a sodium sulphate-chloride spring, weakly alkaline and hot, and is held to help with neuralgia, muscle pain and chronic digestive complaints.
