Kiyomizusannenzakabijutsukan Museum of Art

📍 Kyoto

The Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum keeps about fifty works permanently on view on its ground floor: metalwork, maki-e lacquer, cloisonné, sculpture and Kyoto Satsuma ware from the end of the shogunate through the Meiji period. Most of them left Japan at one point and have since come back, and they include pieces by Imperial Household Artists — fine, exacting work throughout. The upper floor is a special exhibition gallery, with a new theme every three months.

📸 Best photo spotPlease avoid flash photography indoors to protect the exhibits — outdoor exhibit areas, if any, are easier to shoot.
