Kitazagionomoidehakubutsukan Museum

📍 Kyoto

Izutsu Yatsuhashi's main shop takes its name and its look from the Kitaza, a theatre that stood on this spot until the middle of the Meiji era; the building's exterior was remodelled to suggest it, and shop and museum share the premises. On the fifth floor, the Kitaza Gion Memory Museum introduces the history and culture of the Gion district, displaying possessions and works left by writers who frequented the quarter — Yoshii Isamu, Tanizaki Jun'ichiro — along with traditional hairstyles. There is a shop on the ground floor and the Izutsu tea house on the second.

📸 Best photo spotPlease avoid flash photography indoors to protect the exhibits — outdoor exhibit areas, if any, are easier to shoot.
