The Kitamura Museum is built from the collection of its founder, Kitamura Kinjiro, centred on objects for the tea ceremony. Its holdings of Important Cultural Properties — thirty-four items, among them Ninsei's tea bowl with overglaze scale-and-wave design — are particularly celebrated. Pieces suited to the season are shown in spring and autumn, arranged in the order they would appear in the course of a tea gathering.
