Kisaichimaruyamakofunkoen Park

Kisaichi Maruyama Kofun Park sits above a tunnel of the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway, where the largest round burial mound in Kyoto Prefecture has been restored to its original form and laid out as a historic park, lit at night on weekends. It stands on a hill overlooking the Yura River and its valley, built roughly 1,600 years ago in the middle Kofun period as the tomb of a ruler of that valley. The mound is circular, about 71 metres across, and reaches 80 metres in total length counting the projecting platform where burial rites were performed — the largest round kofun in the prefecture, and a National Historic Site.
