Iwamotojoato Castle

📍 Kyoto

Iwamoto Castle was a Sengoku-period mountain fortress built on the summit locally known as Shiroyama, behind the lower Iwayama district. Traces of earthworks remain in the main enclosure at the top, with the outlines of subsidiary enclosures around it. Tradition says it fell during the Nanboku-cho upheavals, but stone pagodas and roof tiles turning up in the surrounding ground leave the story unresolved.

📸 Best photo spotShoot from an angle where the stone walls are clearly visible to capture the castle's old grandeur.
